Reflections in my Life
57Fifty-two years I have reached today
It doesn’t feel over forty, But the hair gives me away
My kids are all married and have lives of their own
It’s strange to ponder; soon they’ll have kids of their own
As I reflect on my life and the things I have done
The things left unfinished; things still yet to come
I’ve accomplished much in my time on this earth
But as I look back, I wonder if I’ve given my life’s worth
I caught a hook on a Carrier landing at sea
And worked on the jets, hard to believe that was me
I’ve restored antique cars, and spent time on the track
Worked as pit crew in Daytona what a great rush was that
I’ve built motors for cars that went really fast
I’ve even survived a nasty car crash
I’ve written two novels with three more in store
Song lyrics and poems, and I’m working on more
I’ve built soap box cars for my son to race
He went to Akron Ohio and in the top 20 placed
I’ve learned guitar and Bass, and Dulcimer too
Sang in great choirs, and played on a world tour
I’ve built book shelves and bunk beds with a nautical theme
Cribs for the church, and more as my family needs
But I wonder what will I in my legacy leave
What memories will remain when others think about me
My life is half over, and I’ve still half to live
Still more to accomplish and I have more to give
But when they at last lay my body to rest
And I stand before God and the ultimate test
What I’ve done here on earth, will not matter a lot
The things that I’ve done, and the ones I have not
Years will pass as will the memories of me
But the choices I made will determine eternity

I love this poem. :) I can't believe you are 51? 51 years young. All of these should be published in a book. Everytime you write, you are vibrant! AEvans
A very happy birthday and all my best wishes. I enjoyed reading you memories and it shows a heart right through and to my mind matters.
You are just getting in a groove with your life...the best is yet to come...maybe a little slower than the previous years...
